Equipment

Sialtech has a specialized and modern machinery at its disposal, with which we carry out almost all drilling techniques. Thanks to the wide variety of drilling rigs, we can reach any location with our equipment. In order to be able to offer our clients all important field surveys, we continuously invest in new drilling equipment and ensure that our machines remain up to date. This means that we can be deployed quickly and flexibly, both on land and water.

Wizard Sonic

The Wizard, built by the Dutch company Drillcon, is a compact and versatile drilling rig on tracks. Thanks to the compact structure our two Wizards can also be used in inaccessible locations and buildings. When mounted on a workboat or pontoon, the Wizard is also ideally suited for bailer drilling in the waterbed, even in deep water.

Technical information:

  • Sonicforce 50 kN
  • High frequency vibrations (150 Hz)

Geoprobe 6610

The Geoprobe is a US-manufactured, compact drilling machine, designed for carrying out sample drillings for environmental site investigations. The heart of the Geoprobe is a hydraulically operated vibrating hammer that combines a low static weight with a low-frequency vibration (percussion), which supplies the power to push drill pipes, sampling tubes and geoprobes into the ground. Thanks to this technique, the soil is disturbed as little as possible and no excess material is released. Since the samples are cut and immediately capped in plastic liners, the Geoprobe is extremely suitable for undisturbed samples of high quality and for research of volatile substances in the soil.

Geoprobe 54

The Geoprobe 54, like its big brother, the Geoprobe 6610, is made in America and especially designed for carrying out sample drillings for environmental site investigations. Thanks to a hydraulically vibrating hammer that combines a low static weight with a low-frequency vibration (percussion), the soil is minimally disturbed, and no excess soil material is released during the drilling. Since the samples are cut and immediately capped in plastic liners, the Geoprobe is extremely suitable for undisturbed samples of high quality and research of volatile substances in the soil. Thanks to its small size, the Geoprobe 54 is flexible in use and can also be used in small, hard-to-reach places.

CASE Geoprobe

The compact drilling machine CASE Geoprobe is made in America and is very suitable for carrying out sample drillings for environmental site investigations. Thanks to a hydraulically vibrating hammer that combines a low static weight with a low-frequency vibration (percussion), the soil is minimally disturbed, and no excess soil material is released during the drilling. The Geoprobe is successfully used for research into volatile substances in the soil. With the Geoprobe, continuous, undisturbed soil samples can be taken at a specific depth.

Nordmeyer DSB 1/3.5

The Nordmeyer DSB 1/3.5 is a heavy hydraulic auger rig with which we can carry out almost all popular drilling techniques used in Europe. This machine is of German origin and is mounted on a special truck, a 6×6 Terberg FM 1350.

With this machine we can perform both non-destructive (cased auger drilling, continuous flight auger drilling, undisturbed sampling, core drillings) and destructive drilling techniques (cased compressed-air hammer drillings and hollow auger drillings).

Technical information:

  • Maximum drilling depth: 150 m
  • Twisted auger/ percussion drilling up to 324 mm ⵁ
  • Undisturbed sampling: up to 80 or 100 mm ⵁ
  • Core drilling: borehole 146 mm ⵁ, core 102 mm ⵁ

Nordmeyer DSB/0

The Nordmeyer DSB/0 is a lighter version of the DSB 1/3.5 and is in principle just as versatile. However, the DSB/0 is smaller and moves on its own tracks. With this machine almost all common destructive and non-destructive drilling techniques can be applied.

Technical information:

  • Twisted auger/ percussion drilling: drill pipe up to 219 mm ⵁ
  • Disturbed and undisturbed sampling: up to 100 mm ⵁ
  • Core drilling: borehole 146 mm ⵁ, core 102 mm ⵁ

Biber

The Biber is a sixteen-meter-long steel vessel with a hole in the deck used for the performance of work. With two anchoring piles the boat can be completely stabilized in the water so drillings in the water bottom can be done safely. Manual drillings can be performed on the working deck. To perform mechanical drillings pontoons are placed in front of the steering in order to place the drill on it. Using 06-GPS satellite techniques, very precise positioning is possible.

Vibro-corer

The Vibro-corer is a pneumatic hammer and is very suitable for large-scale exploration in deep water. To take samples from the sediment the machine is sunk from a pontoon or a larger crane vessel to the waterbed. The sediment samples can be taken very quickly using a hydraulically powered hammer.

Vans

For a lot of our manual environmental and geotechnical soil research, we use our 20 fully equipped vans. Manual fieldwork is still a very important part of our activities. For example, as part of exploratory research or taking samples and installing sampling tubes and filters.  The vans are equipped with a wide selection of hand drills, a submersible pump and a peristaltic pump, mobile gas detection equipment and a field computer for direct input of data.
